For women, lavender’s ability to eliminate and prevent migraine attacks is important, because. For inflammatory processes of the female genital organs, douching with a decoction is prescribed. However , be careful: you must consult a doctor about the procedure, the duration of the therapeutic course and the concentration of the solution! Do not dose the natural medicine yourself – otherwise, instead of benefit, you risk harming the body!
Benefits for children
Lavender is a plant that has a beneficial effect on children, especially in cases of increased excitability and sleep disorders. For babies, the most suitable way to use the herb is to add it to the bath.
There is no consensus among experts regarding the use of lavender during pregnancy: while some point to its benefits for pregnant women, others warn against its use during this period.
The benefits for pregnant women are as follows:
- relief of toxicosis;
- strengthening the immune system;
- removal of swelling;
- preventing stretch marks;
- sleep disorders;
- prevention of varicose veins .
But, due to the diversity of opinions, you should consult a doctor about using a natural medicine! It is better to use a dried plant, not purchased oil.
During breastfeeding, the same rules apply as during pregnancy. Externally, lavender can be used (baths, washing) during both periods.
- The most common use of the plant is lavender tea and infusions. Both are prepared quickly and easily. Boil water and prepare a teapot or thermos. The dishes should be either clay (porcelain, earthenware, etc.) or glass, iron and plastic cannot be used. For tea, take a teaspoon of your regular tea leaves and a teaspoon of lavender flowers per 2-3 cups of boiling water, let it brew for 8-10 minutes and you can drink it, preferably with honey or dates.
- For the infusion, take more lavender, at the rate of two teaspoons of herbs and flowers per glass, insist, covered (not corked!) for two hours, then drink half a glass, or use to wash the affected tissues. The tea has a sedative, calming effect, and the infusion is stronger and has an expectorant, bactericidal and regenerating (wound healing) effect. In addition, taking the infusion of two tablespoons every morning reduces intracranial pressure.
- Rinsing with warm water, to which either natural lavender oil or lavender decoction has been added, is recommended in the presence of: bronchial spasms, hoarseness, and sore throat.
- For neurasthenia, hysteria, insomnia, sluggish infectious diseases (including chronic ones), sharp headaches, as well as asthma and bronchitis, doctors recommend drinking lavender decoction. It is prepared as follows: Pour a liter of hot clean water into a container (again, not iron or plastic!), add 50 grams of crushed dried plant (flowers, stems, rhizomes), put on low heat and warm up, bringing to the brink of boiling (you can heat in a water bath), no need to cook – it is necessary to heat up to 90-95 ° C. Then, remove from heat, wait until the temperature drops to 38-43 degrees, and strain the decoction, pouring it into a dark glass container (opaque). Take the decoction with food, one teaspoon 2-3 times a day for a week or two until the condition improves.
- Lavender decoction also helps with amenorrhea, cystitis, rashes and dermatitis. For the prevention and treatment of the above diseases, it is recommended to prepare a stronger decoction using up to 150 g of dried lavender grass and flowers. In advance, you need to prepare a bath half filled with warm water, strain the decoction that has been steeped until it cools to 35-45°C into the water and stir, undress, immerse yourself in the water for 10-15 minutes.
- To improve hair growth and its general condition, as well as for massage, prepare lavender infusion oil. To do this, take natural, pure olive oil and dark glassware. Place the chopped grass and inflorescences (possibly with the roots) of dried lavender tightly in the container, fill it to the top – pour in oil, seal and leave in a cool, dry place (cellar, refrigerator) for 40 days. The oil will draw out the extracts from the plant and will be very useful not only for the diseases listed above, but also for lichen, burns, pediculosis (lice), rheumatoid pain and joint pain (you need to rub it in with massaging movements).

Contraindications and harm to the body
As a rule, neither dry lavender nor lavender oil cause obvious allergic reactions, but cases of individual intolerance are still possible. In such cases, the plant is contraindicated in any form.
Pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under 12 years of age should not consume lavender internally.
Lavender has good choleretic properties, and this can harm people suffering from gallbladder diseases associated with impaired motility and the presence of stones. If the acidity of gastric juice is increased, you should also avoid taking the plant internally, as it can cause heartburn. Since lavender has the ability to lower blood pressure, people with low blood pressure should not use it. You will also have to give up lavender if your doctor has prescribed medications containing iodine.
If you follow these recommendations and do not exceed the prescribed dosages when using it, the plant will only bring benefits. If you exceed the norms, side effects are possible, such as weakness, nausea, increased heart rate, dizziness, sweating, chills and even convulsions.
